Peacock mixed media art

Tuesday, June 27, 2017

Hello readers 😃!

Today I want to share how I made a mixed media canvas using modeling clay. This one is variation of a canvas I made called Clay floral design on canvas. I made a black background on the canvas using acrylic paints. To get an even distribution, I  gave the canvas several coats of black by letting each coat dry.

I wanted a different texture and design for background. This time I experimented with bubble wrap 😊. I painted the bubble wrap with blue acrylic paint and stamped it onto the canvas at several places.

Similarly I added more colours using the bubble wrap on the canvas.

After being satisfied with the background, I sketched a peacock with paisley patterned feathers using a pencil.

Now to give boundaries I rolled modeling clay into thin string and glued it onto the canvas.

And going further...

And done with the clay boundaries 😊. Now let the glue and clay dry.

Now I painted the bird with silver acrylic paint. Painted the branches with metallic green. And for flowers, I used metallic  blue, violet and peach.

Next, I used metallic gel pens to draw the patterns in the paisleys.

And done 😃!!

Buddha painting

Wednesday, April 5, 2017

Hello!! 😃

I am very excited to share the outcome of a painting idea I had recently 😊. I was very much interested in drawing a Buddha for a long time. I have used a long canvas for this project and acrylics.I have used some paper chips  cut into triangles leftover from an old project.

I drew the image first.

I rearranged the paper triangles to just see how it looks.

I drew the outline on the canvas.

Just checking the paper triangles.

I thought of using opposite colored triangles on the side of the faces. But I decided to mix them up and used multicolored ones.

For the 'Om' I have used metallic acrylics. The outer circle is painted golden. Then I used dot painting techniques to fill the outer circle.

And here it is. The final piece 😊

Handmade greeting for baby shower

Hello all,

I made a greeting for my friends baby shower. There is a nice tutorial on Youtube here.

First I folded the card and drew the shape on it.

For this pattern, I drew lines on a yellow sheet of paper.

I folded the yellow paper as in making a paper fan, and pasted it like this.

For the wheels, I cut some circles. The quilled rolls are for giving some depth.

And its done!

Quilled mandala on painted background

Thursday, March 9, 2017

Hallo, guten tag !😀

It has been a while that I did some quilling. And I have been thinking how it would look if I use a coloured background. And I absolutely love mandalas. My first work was also a mandala which can be seen  here

Coming back to the present project, I used a square canvas. And drew concentric circles at the center.

I painted these circles using acrylic paints.

I started at the center by making a basic tight coil. And some drop shaped pieces.

I glued them using a clear dry glue.

Next I made an outline with a strip and for the red band, I used heart shaped pieces.

Similarly, going further ...

I added another red band and painted the remaining white space into black for better contrast.

And tadaa !! 😃
