Greece texture painting

Wednesday, November 29, 2017

Hey folks !!

Here's another painting using "effect paste" on canvas. My previous painting incorporating this texture paste has all the information about the material that I used here. For the colours I used acrylic paints. I chose this beautiful Greek scene with colourful  flowers and ocean in the background.

I was inspired by a similar painting of this scene. Unfortunately do not know who the artist was. I started off with a pencil sketch.

For painting the sea, I used the fine grain acrylic structure paste and mixed the paint in it. I used a palette knife to apply this mixture on the canvas.

I mixed different shades of blue to give some depth to the sea.

To paint the bushes I used green with clear acrylic paste.

This is how it looks...

I added another layer of dark green mixed with effect paste to give depth to the bushes. For painting the church I used white acrylic effect paste with shades of blue. I spread it using a palette knife.

Once the church was done, I wasn't satisfied with the background colour so I changed it to dark blue.

To paint the flowers, I mixed different shades of maroon, pink, purple, orange and yellow with effect paste. To apply it, I used back of the push pin.

And done :) !!

It took me just two days to finish this work. It was simple to make and so much fun playing with the effect paste. Hope you like it and do try it. Happy painting 😃.

Texture Painting

Monday, September 18, 2017

Hola amigos 😃 !

Today I want to share tutorial for texture painting that I made last week.

The materials used are :
  • A primed canvas
  • Gouache paints from Talens Art Creation for background
  • Acrylic paints
  • Fine grain  acrylic effect paste from CREA BOX Marabu brand.
  • Palette knives
  • Stencil
  • Painters tape

I started with a yellow, green, violet blended background. For this I used Gouache paints. They are opaque matt paints with high intensity colors. For making violet, I used Deep Rose and Cyan colors. And the rest are Deep Green and Lemon Yellow.

Once the canvas is dry, I taped the stencil onto the canvas. I used certain parts of the canvas to get the design. So I taped the rest of the stencil to avoid texture paste getting through. I used Acrylic Effect Paste from CREA BOX. It can be painted over once dry. To spread the paste I used plastic palette knives.

Similarly going further...

This is the final design.

To paint over the effect paste, I used bleeding technique. For this, I painted the petal with a little bit of water first using a brush.

Then I slightly touched the petal with color. And now the beauty of it unfolds 😍.

Similarly, painting all the petals...

I drew some outlines using black acrylic paint.

Now, I used the same bleeding technique to paint the stems and leaves. This time, I used two colors: Green and yellow.

I drew some swirls as background. I used white, yellow, green and blue colors for this.

At few areas I used gold metallic paints and ...done !!
