Greece texture painting

Wednesday, November 29, 2017

Hey folks !!

Here's another painting using "effect paste" on canvas. My previous painting incorporating this texture paste has all the information about the material that I used here. For the colours I used acrylic paints. I chose this beautiful Greek scene with colourful  flowers and ocean in the background.

I was inspired by a similar painting of this scene. Unfortunately do not know who the artist was. I started off with a pencil sketch.

For painting the sea, I used the fine grain acrylic structure paste and mixed the paint in it. I used a palette knife to apply this mixture on the canvas.

I mixed different shades of blue to give some depth to the sea.

To paint the bushes I used green with clear acrylic paste.

This is how it looks...

I added another layer of dark green mixed with effect paste to give depth to the bushes. For painting the church I used white acrylic effect paste with shades of blue. I spread it using a palette knife.

Once the church was done, I wasn't satisfied with the background colour so I changed it to dark blue.

To paint the flowers, I mixed different shades of maroon, pink, purple, orange and yellow with effect paste. To apply it, I used back of the push pin.

And done :) !!

It took me just two days to finish this work. It was simple to make and so much fun playing with the effect paste. Hope you like it and do try it. Happy painting ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

Tote bag painting

Tuesday, November 21, 2017

Hi everyone!

Lately I have been so bored of my plain creme tote bags that I decided to paint them. I bought this orange bag from DM and painted it using some acrylic paints. Fabric paints would be much better if I had some. But acrylics worked just fine.

I used black to paint the branches first. And then used white and yellow to paint the flowers. To paint the flowers I used a q-tip.

I had another bag and I decided to paint mandala on it using white acrylic paint.

and done!

Painting of woman plucking flowers

Good Morning ๐Ÿ˜ƒ!!

I hope all my readers are basking in the morning sun of November. เคธเคฐ्เคฆी เค•ी เคงूเคช is the best part of wintry season I feel. The fall colors, sunny days ...aah cannot ask for it to get more beautiful. Got a little deviated from our regular talks ๐Ÿ˜. Coming back to our very own lane of arts, I finished another canvas last Friday which I started many many months ago. After initial work I kept it aside because I wasn't confident if I could finish it. I didn't believe if I had what it takes. So far, I have not drawn and painted a regular human face. I did paint faces in Madhubani works, but they were merely single shade of color. In the current work, I had to draw face with shades of skin color...how it varies when light falls on one side of the face and how the other side gets a shadow. I get pretty nervous when drawing a human face with shades. That is pretty much unexplored territory because I felt it was too hard for me. I avoided working on this canvas for many months. I would rather paint something new or craft something else. But somehow by end of Oct, I felt I should give it try. If  it doesn't work out, I could always repaint and use it for a new work. If I didn't try, I would never know how far I can go. So I started working and here is how it looks now. It might not be the best painting, but am very proud of myself for trying it and finishing it ๐Ÿ˜Š.

I used acrylic paints on a 50cm x 40cm canvas. To draw the jewelry I used metallic gold acrylic and pearl metallic acrylics. For drawing design on her dress I used silver marker from Edding. And for painting the grass I used sketch pens of different green shades.

I was inspired by a similar image from internet. I traced the image using grid technique to get right proportions. This method is also the very first time I used it ๐Ÿ˜Š.

I started with the night sky and the grass.

After this, I avoided this canvas for a looooong time as I said earlier. After believing in myself, I started again in the last week of Oct. I finished the night sky which took a lot of time.

I used different shades of green acrylics to draw the leaves at the bottom.

I took little bit pink and white acrylics and loaded them onto the brush to draw these flowers.

The face was the most difficult thing I attempted in this work. It took a lot of time.  But I was satisfied at the end. All that time was worth it ๐Ÿ˜ƒ.

Adding some jewelry...

She looks pretty, doesn't she ?

For the grass, I used several green shades of sketch pens.

And done ๐Ÿ˜€...

Tea light holders

Tuesday, October 24, 2017

Hey folks!

Am obsessed with candles and tealight holders. Although I have plenty at home, I still felt like making some ๐Ÿ˜Š. For all those "candle cravers"...see what I did ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜„, here are some more ideas to customize your tealight holders and light up your home. They are great for party favours too because they are cute and handmade.

I bought these square shaped glass holders and drew on them using 3D paint. I used pearl colour for this.

In the second holder I just experimented with silver 3D paint.

Now I will share with you the clay floral tealight holders. I used air dry clay to make these. I have already shared a tutorial for making such holders, which can be checked here. I have used acrylic paints and on the edges I used golden acrylic paint.

Next one uses silver acrylic paint on the edges.

The next one uses metallic acrylic paints.

The next ones also use acrylic paints. I made these as party favours.

Next is a variation of floral tealight holder. I used air dry clay to make these. I used metallic acrylic paints for petals and spray painted gold for the inside.

I hope you liked this post. And do try making them.
