Macrame wall hanging

Thursday, November 24, 2016

Hello readers !

I have been seeing Macrame tapestry everywhere in Pinterest these days. And looked very pretty. Just ropes becoming into such pretty patterns. And I was swept by the ongoing Macrame craze too. And today I finished making my first Macrame wall hanging. I started yesterday afternoon and finished by night *high-five  me* :) , the tassels took some time today. I used wool for making tassels. I got some regular jute rope from the hardware store. It works better if the rope is not nylon and a bit thick. I made the square knot in this attempt. There are tons of tutorials in YouTube. So here is the final craft. I hope you like it.

Sunflower candle holder

Tuesday, November 1, 2016

Keeping up with the festivities of Diwali, I have made some more clay candle holders which I will be sharing in series of blogposts. In this post, I have made a candle holder which looks like a sunflower. The  material is air dry modeling clay which I have used in many previous projects. Paints are acrylic.

I rolled a sheet out of the modeling clay and cut petals in it.

Then I arranged the petals on a circular clay piece which acts as a base. The best feature about this clay is you can use water to join or blend pieces.

I wanted the petals to be a little high instead of laying flat, the way real flowers are. So to do that, I rolled some tissue paper and placed it underneath the flowers. So when the clay dries, it holds its position.

Similarly, I went on with another layer of petals with tissue roll underneath.

The final layer of petals....and to seal off, I placed another circular clay piece in the center.

Leave the clay to dry on its own. It takes 1 or 2 days to dry based on how thick the petals are.

Once dry, you can paint it as you like. I chose red and yellow.

Handmade candle holder

Monday, October 31, 2016

Hello friends! A very happy diwali to all :)

The festival of lights is here. The beauty of this festival is seeing the pretty diya's around the house.
I made a candle holder from modeling clay which I have learnt from this video tutorial. She has made a very pretty holder. I had a great time making. Am happy to share mine in this post. This is how it looks.

Start off by cutting circles in a sheet of modeling clay. Each circle will become a petal in our holder.

Make petals by pinching one side of the circle and attach them using few drops of water as shown below.

Handmade Birthday card

Monday, September 26, 2016

Hello folks!

Here's a simple and fun card that I made for a sweet little kid. It folds up to look like a tiny thin book but when you open it, it has a nice 3D effect. First, you need 4 sheets of paper which are squares. I took about 7cm sized papers.

There is a nice video card tutorial on YouTube.

I folded them and cut them like below.

Fold them further. And stick them to each other.

Then I pasted some printed papers as shown below.

I added some trims to the front side and pasted two felted hearts.

And tadaa !
